LIA Loss Prevention CE Seminar near Boston on April 12, 2011

I am teaching our CE seminar Loss Prevention Program for Real Estate Appraisers on April 12, 2011 in Natick/Boston.  The host of this seminar is the Massachusetts Chapter of the Appraisal Institute.  The seminar is approved for 4 hours of CE credit in MA.  LIA is the provider and the MA course number is 11070001E. CE credit will also be available for appraisers licensed in NH and VT.

We teach this seminar around the United States and it is the same seminar that we will teach at the Appraisal Institute's Annual Meeting in Las Vegas this year. It addresses current legal claims and liability issues affecting residential and commercial appraisers. The information is based on actual claims and lawsuits. In addition to discussion about the interesting facts involved in many of the cases, the seminar provides specific instruction about how appraisers can improve certain aspects of their reports that lead to legal claims from disgruntled lenders, borrowers and other parties.  We will also discuss emerging legal issues such as the FDIC, indemnification clauses and other contractual issues.

The chapter's fee for the seminar is $50 for members and $60 for nonmembers.  This includes lunch.

Our seminars have received very good reviews.  We recently presented the seminar to 185 appraisers in Lexington, KY, 180 appraisers in Louisville, KY, and 60 appraisers in Anchorage, AK.

Appraisers who are insured by LIA for E&O become eligible for a one-time discount on their E&O premium of $50 (for a $500K or $1m per claim policy) or $25 (for a $300k per claim policy) for completing the class.  This discount may be applied toward any payment due after the seminar.

The time and location are: April 12, 2011, 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (starts with lunch), Crowne Plaza Hotel, 1360 Worcester Street, Route 9, Natick, MA.

Registration is through the Appraisal Institute here.
