Free LIA/READI 4-Hour CE Seminar in St. Paul, MN on September 21, 2011

READI and LIA are presenting their 4-hour live CE seminar entitled "Loss Prevention Program for Real Estate Appraisers" on September 21, 2011 in St. Paul, MN.   The seminar is free to all appraisers who are registered with READI or insured by LIA.

Who sues the most appraisers? What do they sue for? Which lenders pose the most risk to appraisers? Who is more at risk: residential or commercial appraisers? Which AMCs have sued appraisers for indemnification? You'll get the answers at the seminar and, of course, 4 hours of CE credit.

As LIA's general counsel and READI's director, I will be the presenter. The seminar addresses legal claims and issues affecting both residential and commercial real estate appraisers. The information is based on actual claims and lawsuits filed against appraisers. In addition to the interesting facts involved in many of the cases, the seminar provides specific instruction about how appraisers can minimize their risk of being sued and about how to be prepared for such an event if it happens. We will also discuss the spike in FDIC litigation and indemnification clauses and other problematic provisions in contracts.

Appraisers insured through LIA's E&O  program with Liberty Mutual become eligible for a one-time discount on their E&O premium of either $25 or $50 depending on their level of coverage by completing the class.

The location of the seminar is the University of Minnesota, Continuing Education and Conference Center, 1890 Buford Ave., St. Paul, MN 55108. Class sign-in starts at 8:00 a.m. The class will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m.

Appraisers who are registered as members of READI (www.readimember.org) or insured by LIA may register for the seminar by email to class@readimember.org.  Space is limited and will be given in order of RSVP.
